Equus Total Return Closed Fund (NYSE: EQS) is a closed-end investment fund structured as a business development company. Through its investment activities, it has focused on middle-market companies and has taken both control and non-control positions across a range of situations, including leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, growth and expansion capital, acquisition financing, recapitalizations, and special situations. The fund has also invested in equity and equity-linked securities, subordinated debt, convertible debt, and debt instruments paired with warrants or other rights to acquire stock. Its target sectors have included technology, telecommunications, financial services, natural resources, industrial manufacturing and services, alternative energy, real estate, healthcare, education, e-learning, leisure and entertainment, and foreign investment, with a geographic focus spanning the United States, China, India, and Europe.
