American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC) is a NASDAQ-listed common stock issuer in the industrials sector and electrical equipment industry. Through its subsidiaries, the company develops megawatt-scale power resiliency solutions for customers around the world. Its operations are organized into two segments: Grid and Wind.

The Grid segment, marketed under the Gridtec Solutions brand, provides products and services for electric utilities, industrial users, and renewable energy developers. These include transmission planning, grid interconnection solutions for wind and solar projects, power quality systems, cable systems for transmission and distribution, D-VAR and actiVAR reactive power solutions, armorVAR systems, volt var optimization, ship protection systems, and onboard power delivery, generation, propulsion, transformer, and rectifier systems.

The Wind segment, under the Windtec Solutions brand, designs wind turbine systems, licenses those designs to third parties, and supplies power electronics, software-based control systems, engineered designs, and customer support services. American Superconductor was incorporated in 1987 and is headquartered in Ayer, Massachusetts.
