MFA Financial, Inc. is a real estate investment trust (REIT) listed on the NYSE under the ticker MFA. Through its subsidiaries, the company operates in the United States and is organized around two segments: Mortgage-Related Assets and Lima One. The Mortgage-Related Assets segment manages a diversified portfolio that includes residential whole loans, such as nonqualified mortgage loans, business purpose loans, single-family rental loans, transitional loans, legacy re-performing and non-performing loans, and agency-eligible investor loans. It also invests in residential mortgage-backed securities, including agency and non-agency MBS, as well as credit risk transfer securities. The Lima One segment operates a mortgage origination and servicing business focused on business purpose loans for real estate investors and related mortgage banking activities. MFA Financial uses securitization transactions, warehouse financing, and repurchase agreements to support its investment activities. The company was incorporated in 1997 and is based in New York, New York.
