Patterson-UTI Energy Inc. is a Houston, Texas-based company founded in 1978 and listed on NASDAQ as common stock under the symbol PTEN. Through its subsidiaries, the company serves oil and natural gas exploration and production customers in the United States, Canada, Colombia, and other international markets. Its operations are organized into three areas: drilling services, completion services, and drilling products. The drilling services business includes contract drilling, directional drilling, measurement-while-drilling services, downhole motors and MWD systems, automation and control solutions, and related drilling technologies. The completion services segment provides hydraulic fracturing, wireline and pumping, completion support, cementing, equipment, materials, and certain power and logistics services. The drilling products segment designs, manufactures, sells, and rents drill bits, while also renting oilfield tools and supporting land-based drilling, completion, and workover activities.
