Through its Aggregates, Asphalt, and Concrete segments, the company supplies crushed stone, sand and gravel, ballast, riprap, jetty stone, asphalt mix, asphalt paving services, and ready-mixed concrete. Its products are used in highway and street construction and maintenance, public works, railroad track support, erosion control, and residential, commercial, industrial, and other nonresidential construction. Founded in 1909 and headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, Vulcan Materials trades as common stock on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol VMC.
