American Water Works (AWK)

American Water Works Company, Inc. is a U.S. water and wastewater utility whose common stock is listed on the NYSE under the ticker AWK. Through its subsidiaries, the company provides water and wastewater services across 14 states and serves about 3.6 million active customers. Its customer base includes residential, commercial, industrial, public authority, fire service, and community utility accounts. American Water also works on military installations and under municipal contracts to operate and manage water and wastewater facilities. The company’s infrastructure includes surface water and groundwater treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, transmission and distribution mains, groundwater wells, pumping stations, treated water storage sites, and dams. Founded in 1886 and headquartered in Camden, New Jersey, it operates as a regulated water utility with a broad U.S. service footprint.
