Heron Therapeutics, Inc. is a commercial-stage biotechnology company focused on developing and commercializing therapies designed to improve patient care. The company’s platform is built around its proprietary Biochronomer drug delivery technology, which is intended to release therapeutic agents over periods ranging from days to weeks after a single administration. Heron markets SUSTOL, an extended-release injection used to help prevent nausea and vomiting associated with certain chemotherapy regimens, and CINVANTI, an intravenous aprepitant formulation for the prevention of chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting. Its development pipeline also includes ZYNRELEF, a dual-acting local anesthetic combining bupivacaine and meloxicam, and APONVIE, an intravenous formulation being developed for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting in adults. The company, formerly known as A.P. Pharma, adopted the Heron Therapeutics name in January 2014 and is headquartered in Cary, North Carolina.
