United Rentals, Inc. is a common stock listing on the NYSE for a company that operates as an equipment rental business. Through its subsidiaries, the company serves customers in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Its operations are organized into two segments: General Rentals and Specialty. The General Rentals segment provides construction and industrial equipment such as backhoes, skid-steer loaders, forklifts, earthmoving machinery, aerial work platforms, and smaller tools and light equipment used by construction and industrial customers, as well as municipalities, utilities, homeowners, and government entities. The Specialty segment includes trench safety, power and HVAC, fluid solutions, surface protection mats, and mobile storage and modular office equipment, primarily serving infrastructure-related construction, municipalities, and industrial companies. United Rentals also sells select equipment and consumables, supplies parts, and offers repair and maintenance services. The company was incorporated in 1997 and is headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut.
