Kiora Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a clinical-stage specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing treatments for ophthalmic diseases. Its lead program, KIO-301, is being studied in Phase 2 trials as a potential vision-restoring small molecule for retinitis pigmentosa, choroideremia, and Stargardt disease. The company is also advancing KIO-104, a non-steroidal, immuno-modulatory small-molecule DHODH inhibitor under Phase 1b/2a evaluation for posterior non-infectious uveitis and in preclinical development for proliferative vitreoretinopathy. In addition, Kiora is developing KIO-101, an eye drop candidate for the ocular presentation of rheumatoid arthritis. The company has a development and commercialization agreement with Théa Open Innovation for KIO-301 and a collaboration with Global Genes focused on rare ocular disorders. Formerly known as Eyegate Pharmaceuticals, the company adopted its current name in November 2021 and is headquartered in Encinitas, California, with operations in the United States, Austria, and Australia.
