Western Asset Emerging Markets Debt (EMD)

Western Asset Emerging Markets Debt Fund Inc. is a closed-end investment fund listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol EMD. The fund is managed by Legg Mason Partners Fund Advisor, LLC, with co-management from Western Asset Management Company and affiliated entities. Its mandate is centered on fixed-income securities from emerging market countries, including obligations issued by governments, government-related entities, and corporations across a range of maturities and credit qualities. In building its portfolio, the fund uses fundamental analysis and a top-down process that considers currency trends, inflation, interest rates, growth expectations, market liquidity, political conditions, and tax factors. The fund is benchmarked against the JPMorgan Emerging Markets Bond Index Global and was formed in the United States on December 1, 2003. It was previously known as Salomon Brothers Emerging Markets Debt Fund Inc.
