Corning also produces glass substrates used in flat panel displays for televisions, computers, tablets, and handheld devices.

Beyond these core areas, the company develops materials and products for semiconductor, aerospace and defense, radiation shielding, and consumer applications, along with ceramic substrates and emissions-control filters for vehicles. Its life sciences business includes laboratory plastics, glassware, and related products sold under brands such as Corning, Falcon, PYREX, and Axygen. Corning was founded in 1851, was formerly known as Corning Glass Works, and is headquartered in Corning, New York.
