Power REIT (PW)
Power REIT (NYSE: PW) is a specialized real estate investment trust focused on owning real estate used for controlled environment agriculture, renewable energy, and transportation-related properties. As a REIT, it is structured as a listed common stock tied to a real estate vehicle rather than a conventional operating company. The trust also reflects the legacy of its wholly owned subsidiary, Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad (P&WV), which was previously listed on AMEX. P&WV was recognized as an early infrastructure REIT after receiving an IRS revenue ruling in the late 1960s that qualified its railroad property as REIT-eligible real estate.
