American International Group, Inc. (AIG) is a New York-based insurance company listed on the NYSE as common stock. Through its North America Commercial, International Commercial, and Global Personal segments, the company serves commercial, institutional, and individual customers in the United States and abroad. Its insurance portfolio includes commercial property coverage, liability and workers’ compensation products, specialty lines such as marine, energy, aviation, political risk, trade credit, and trade finance, as well as structured risk-sharing programs for large corporate and multinational clients. AIG also writes personal accident, supplemental health, auto, homeowners, warranty, device protection, and high-net-worth insurance in selected markets. In addition, the company has loan and receivable activities that include commercial mortgages, life insurance policy loans, commercial loans, and other notes receivable. Founded in 1919, AIG operates from its headquarters in New York, New York.
