Berkshire Hathaway Inc. is a diversified U.S. company with businesses spanning insurance, freight rail transportation, and utilities. Its insurance operations include property and casualty, life, accident and health, and reinsurance activities. The company also operates North American railroad systems and a broad utility network involved in electricity generation, transmission, storage, and distribution, along with natural gas distribution and storage, interstate pipelines, LNG facilities, and related infrastructure. Beyond these core areas, Berkshire Hathaway has interests in coal mining and a wide range of manufacturing, retail, and service businesses, including confectionery products, chemicals, industrial components, building products, home construction, logistics, aviation services, consumer goods distribution, restaurant franchising, and automotive retail. Incorporated in 1998 and headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, the company’s Class A common stock is listed on the NYSE.
