Universal Security Instruments Inc., now known as Universal Safety Products, Inc., is a common stock listing on the NYSE. The company and its subsidiary are involved in the marketing and distribution of safety and security products in the United States. Its product range includes safety alarm units with replaceable batteries, sealed batteries and battery backup features, along with smoke alarms, hearing-impaired alarms, heat alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, door chimes, ventilation products, ground fault circuit interrupters and other electrical devices. These products are sold under the UNIVERSAL and USI Electric trade names. Universal Safety Products serves wholesale distributors, chain and discount retailers, television retailers, home centers, catalog and mail-order businesses, electrical and lighting distributors, manufactured housing companies and other distributors. The company uses independent sales organizations and representatives, as well as its own catalogs, brochures and website, to reach customers. Incorporated in 1969, it is headquartered in Owings Mills, Maryland.
