The Hanover Insurance Group Inc. is a U.S.-based property and casualty insurance company whose common stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker THG. Through its subsidiaries, the company serves individual and commercial customers with a broad range of insurance products. Its operations are organized into four segments: Core Commercial, Specialty, Personal Lines, and Other.

The commercial portfolio includes coverages such as commercial multiple peril, commercial automobile, workers’ compensation, professional and executive lines, marine, surety, and other specialty property and casualty products. The personal lines business includes automobile and homeowners insurance, along with related coverages for residences, personal property, liability, umbrella, inland marine, fire, personal watercraft, and personal cyber risks. The company markets its products through independent agents and brokers. Founded in 1852 and headquartered in Worcester, Massachusetts, The Hanover was formerly known as Allmerica Financial Corp. before adopting its current name in 2005.
